The Genome Project.
The 100k Genome Project has now sequenced a total of 71,095 genomes in its quest to reach the 100,000 mark. It is estimated the full target will be met and possibly exceeded by late 2018.
The project involves NIHR NBC acting as the biorepository and playing the pivotal role of assessing the quality of all DNA samples, normalising these samples as per the requirements of the sequencing provider and banking remaining samples from long term automated storage.
In fact, close to 91,000 samples have now been collected with almost 85,000 of these dispatched by the GMC’s to the biorepository. The finishing line is in sight!
