In the current climate of uncertainty disasters can occur at any moment threatening businesses with significant data loss, operational disruptions, and financial setbacks. Cold storage companies in particular, face unique challenges in disaster recovery due to the sensitive nature of the products they store. Therefore, it is essential to have a robust disaster recovery plan in place to ensure the continuity of operations and the protection of valuable assets.
We hold the largest automated biorepository in the UK, already housing over 12 million samples with room to spare for yours in our automated -80°C stores. We also manage more than 250 conventional -80°C manual freezers and 117 vapour phase LN2 tanks at -196°C. Our extensive experience and infrastructure mean we are uniquely equipped to handle any emergency.
If disaster strikes, your CO2 backup will be depleted in 24 hrs and you won’t be able to restore power for at least 1 week.
With our Disaster Recovery Cover you can be reassured that your sample collection will be protected. We will organise our Freezer Transport Team to come and collect your -80°C freezer system, connect it to a power supply during transport and deliver it to our HTA and ISO15189 accredited facility where we will place your freezers into their designated space, receipt them into our 24/7 temperature monitoring system and keep your samples under lock and key until you need them. Your freezers can be stored with us from £99 per year per freezer.
In the event of your freezers being non-recoverable, we will receipt your samples into our system and transport your samples in our dedicated recovery freezers. You will also benefit from the use of our custom-built LIMS, which gives you complete view of your samples’ movements within UK Biocentre.
Sample security
All critical systems are supported by redundant backup generators and switch to internally generated source in the event of a power cut.
All data are backed up off-site daily, weekly, and monthly and can be re-configured within days.
Automated storage systems have an independent UPS to preserve data and allow continued operation during any switchover period.
All manual freezers have temperature monitoring and alarm systems.
The facilities have remote monitored CCTV.
