Director of Informatics

Jim has over 25 years of experience in bioinformatics, specialising in leading technology and data initiatives within the healthcare and life sciences sectors.

After studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge, Jim soon moved away from the lab and into programming, joining the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute as a bioinformatician.  While at the Sanger, he recruited and led bioinformatics teams on successful high-impact projects including the Ensembl genome browser, 1000Genomes and UK10K human genome sequencing initiatives, and global malaria surveillance systems. Later, as Senior Director of Informatics at a microbiome therapeutics start-up, he built the cloud-based informatics platform from the ground up, supporting the company from early stage through to clinical trials.
